Carrere
Regords originating in France first appeared in Australia in 1977 during
the height of the 12” disco 45 craze when nearly all of the record companies
were experimenting with the new sized 45. They were a hit with club DJs
and die-hard disco fans, however not so with the general record buying
public (they were more expensive and cumbersome). So the companies released
7” versions of all disco records. Tf you wanted the “extended” mixes then
you had to buy the 12” version. The 12” format survived albeit in a specialized
market, mostly techno stuff and nearly all imported. |
