the UK version was becoming an influental dynamo, the more saleable artists
were being snapped up and placed on the major US labels..
(Costello
and Lowe to Columbia, Damned and Wreckless Eric to Epic).
In
Early 1978, Ian Dury was placed with Arista. By Mid 1978 the second wave
of Stiff hits were being released in the UK, and their artists were divided
up amongst Columbia and Epic albeit on new imprints: Stiff-Columbia and
Stiff-Epic.
By
the end of 1980 the US branches of Stiff had closed down. |
