World-Pacific
Records was a subsidiary of Pacific
Jazz Records (established by Richard Bock and Roy Harte in Los Angeles,
1952). The labels were sold to Liberty
Records in 1965.
In 1968, Liberty was bought for $38 million by Transamerica Corporation (an insurance company) and combined with their other label United Artists Records. Transamerica did not have a clue about running a record company. |
